Delphi's unique approach to academics provides an individually tailored program
for each student. A student’s progress is not tied to the speed of others in the
class. Those who have mastered the basics are free to advance quickly into new areas.
Students can brush up in weak areas (at any level), tackle advanced subjects, or
simply explore new interests. Over 150 courses and classes are offered each summer
from which students can select, including those that help with reading and comprehension
basics, arithmetic and writing skills.
Students are given diagnostic testing from which a program based on interests, strengths
and weaknesses is designed. The amount of emphasis and length of time students spend
on academics versus other activities is included as part of the program. Parents
are brought into the process to ensure the school and families are well coordinated.
A high level of personal attention is not just an abstract idea at Delphi. Classes
are small enough that students receive individual attention and one-on-one assistance
with their academics. With roughly 12-14 students to one teacher, no one "falls
through the cracks."
Our experienced faculty are on the job year-round which means students receive the
best service educationally surrounded by the lively camp atmosphere of summer.
Delphi offers a student the opportunity to learn an approach to study which develops
a truly self-sufficient and self-motivated student with the tools to learn anything,
easily and comfortably. This vital instruction – missing in many school systems
today – can greatly increase any student's enthusiasm for learning. As they learn
these study methods, students find they are able to fully understand and apply the
data they are studying in school. The world of knowledge becomes fully accessible
and a young person with abilities and interest can discover his unlimited potential
for success. Using this approach, a Delphi student becomes a confident and enthusiastic
independent learner.
This approach was developed by American writer and educator L. Ron Hubbard, who recognized the pitfalls and identified
the basic barriers to understanding. To help overcome these barriers and ensure
a student could truly put his or her education to use, he developed a precise and
simple set of tools called a technology of study. Because this study technology
provides simple but powerful tools by which any subject can be fully understood,
every student who comes to Delphi begins by getting a firm grounding in it.
Delphi Academy is licensed to use
Applied Scholastics™ educational services and materials, which are
based on the works of Mr. Hubbard.
