Week Theme Workshop
1 Animals Explore the world of animals. Watch National Geographic videos and discover things you never knew animals could do. Includes a session on jobs animals do—learn about guide dogs. Features Mr. Valentine's Animal Show! Drama: The workshop will include comedy, drama and improvization with a variety of scenes/skits/monologues; script-writing and acting techniques are covered, including acting in different emotional tones. One Elective slot daily (two hours).
2 Ages of America Discover the different periods of America, including the Gold Rush, Western Times, the 50's, etc. Dance: Campers will learn different styles of dance with a dance instructor, including hip-hop, swing, jazz and ballet. One Elective slot daily (two hours).
3 Brainteasers, Riddles & Puzzles Have fun figuring out the answers to various riddles, brainteasers and puzzles, including a scavenger hunt in which each of the clues is a different riddle! Computers: A variety of guest instructors and professionals will instruct in the basics of hardware, computer maintenance and repair, graphic design, use of Photoshop® and an overview of related careers. One Elective slot daily (two hours).
4 Rhyme Time! This week is devoted to poetry. Learn about poetry—rhyme, rhythm and different styles of poems. Practice writing poetry in various styles and listen to some famous poems. Volleyball/Soccer: Two different workshops. Intermediate to advanced techniques for each. Practice, conditioning, strength training and scrimmages. One Elective slot daily (two hours).

6 The Sci-Fi Universe Discover the fictional world inspired by science and space. This week you will read from famous science fiction authors and write your own science fiction story! Music: Beginning to advanced instruction. Guest performers and instructors will give campers lessons in various instruments and vocals. Learn basic music theory. Participants will get a chance to audition for the End-of-Summer Show. One Elective slot daily (two hours).
7 Solving Mysteries Start the week with a mystery that needs to be solved. Breaking up into groups, you'll do investigations and find clues to solve it throughout the week. The first group to solve the mystery wins! Hear stories from famous mystery authors. Art: Stone sculpting, painting with oils and acrylics, still lifes, pastels, abstract art, basic art history. Variety of media will be available. One Elective slot daily (two hours).
8 Games Galore! Learn the anatomy of a game—what are the different parts that make a game. Explore different games and then make up one of your own. The week ends with campers sharing their games with the group. Basketball: Intermediate to advanced techniques and instruction. Drilling the basics, working on team strategies, conditioning and strength training; scrimmages. One Elective slot daily (two hours).
9 Summers Around the World In the southern half of the planet, people have winter while we bask in the warmth of summer. Learn how different countries celebrate summer around the world. Summer Spirit: Every day is something fun!
