UPPER SCHOOL (Grades 9-12)

While making sure to keep their academic skills sharp, students will be able to take part in good old-fashioned fun, and also be exposed to new cultures and ideas.

Camping Trips

Monterey Bay Camping Trip

Campers will visit Point Lobos Wildlife Preserve and explore the tide pools and hike "China Cove" to take in the spectacular beauty. Seals, sea lions, sea otters and thousands of seabirds make the reserve their home. Other day trips include Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf and Carmel Beach for sandcastle building and swimming adventures!

Field Trips

Big Tujunga Canyon Hike and Picnic

A wilderness adventure in one of LA's more renowned canyons—Big Tujunga. Students hike along the canyon and through lush forests, sparkling waterfalls and picnic in a pine-shaded retreat with dramatic views.

Trips to Huntington Beach & Zuma Beach

Students will enjoy the pristine shoreline and waves of Huntington Beach, home to the world famous municipal pier and have fun playing in the sand at Zuma Beach, known for its long, wide beaches.

Cultural Trip to Olvera Street, Chinatown & Little Tokyo

Students take hands-on, interactive walking tours through three different cultures and learn about their history and traditions.

Olvera Street: The colorful village features 27 historic buildings, a traditional Mexican plaza, a marketplace with handcrafted Mexican wares & the popular taquitos or tacos at the outdoor cafes.

Chinatown: Visit the Central Plaza and Thien Hau Temple and sample authentic Chinese cuisine while winding through a myriad of alleyways, plaza stalls, and classical courtyards of Chinatown.

Little Tokyo: A National Historic Landmark District located just east of the historic Los Angeles City Hall, this unique and beautiful area with lush gardens, exhibits, and markets, evokes the art and traditions of Japan.

  • Sports Games, Olympian Style competitions throughout the summer in a variety of team and individual sports including track & field, soccer and basketball.
  • Music Cafe: Enjoy musical entertainment from students in a cafe-style environment.
  • End-of-summer ho-down, barbeque and square dance for students and their parents.
  • Fridays are designated for all-school group activities like sports games, scavenger hunts, water play, student-made movies, and more!
